Cycle Circuit Racing - Sarah Hobbs

Yesterday was my first experience of a bike race! It’s something I’ve been wanting to have a go at for about a year. British Cycling are actively encouraging more women to race and so are increasing the number of opportunities for women to try racing. I entered a category 4 race , which is open to all women of all ages and abilities.

Guest blog by Sarah Hobbs, who raced her first cycle circuit race this weekend.

Breca Buttermere

Breca Buttermere

The whole Breca experience was incredible, but the race was a game of two halves. The first half, till the final exit of Buttermere - where the sprint race ended - was a tough adventure race that involved some technical running and some beautiful swimming. The second half, consisting of the brutal fell run over Dale Head and the weary swim across Derwent, was more of a trial of strength. Strength of body and mind.

Enduroman Weekend

Suzy was aiming to complete a Double Ironman – as fiendishly simple as it sounds. She would complete a full Ironman race on Saturday then, after a few hours of sleep, do it again on the Sunday. In addition to this, there was also a group aiming to complete the Continuous Double Ironman: an unrelenting 7.6km swim, 360km bike taking them through the rural unlit night, and a double Marathon to finish.
